About
Adam Jason Cohen (b. New Jersey, 1986) is a photographer and director based in Brooklyn, New York. His work examines the decisions people make to express themselves — the car they drive, the clothes they wear, the subcultures they inhabit — treating these choices as a visual language that reveals something deeper about identity, desire and belonging. AJC is drawn to places where beauty, style and influence operate outside of sanctioned cultural spaces, finding meaning in what mainstream discourse tends to overlook or undervalue.
Working primarily on film, AJC’s practice spans environmental portraiture and documentary photography, equally at home in dense urban environments as in open landscapes and nature.
His personal work extends beyond single images, taking shape as self-published books, zines and films that allow for the kind of sustained, longer-form portrait the subject demands.
